The South Street Inn offers old-world elegance in the middle of a lively downtown. The Inn combines two restored houses. The larger house was built in 1856 for Thomas Jefferson Werenbaker, the son of a close friend of Thomas Jefferson.
Meticulous attention was paid to detail in every aspect of the restoration - from the wide, welcoming neoclassical veranda to the solid walnut two-story serpentine banister in the main hallway.
A new second floor public room with a fireplace has been added. The inn serves a continental breakfast featuring an array of homebaked breads and coffee cakes. Enjoy it on the garden patio or veranda or in the cozy library.
There is also wine and cheese served in the afternoon. All rooms include air-conditioning, cable television, and telephone. In addition, some rooms feature fireplaces and/or whirlpool bathtubs.
